Abstract

In the recent times, interest in environmental issues and their health and economic consequences has increased, and developed countries have begun to develop new methods to achieve sustainability in the building and construction sectors and with the expansion and openness, advanced plans began to be developed, using modern clean, and smart technology that achieves the highest levels of sustainability. However, there is still a marginalization of the role of landscaping and open spaces and how to design them from the perspective of sustainability and technology together, despite being a complementary environment to the built environment, with larger areas than the built-up spaces.
On the other hand, the importance of these spaces is evident in their being the focus of user interaction with the external environment, in addition to the burden of achieving social and environmental balance, and their role in achieving visual and aesthetic values, along with their urban and functional characteristics. Therefore, it was necessary to identify the outer space and study its components and characteristics with the study of smart technologies, specifically for smart audio-visual systems that can be integrated into the design of the outer space, and how to apply these smart systems to the outer spaces in a way that achieves the concept of sustainability.
The present research paper aims to propose a framework for the foundations of designing outdoor and open spaces, from a sustainable perspective, using modern technological methods and converting them from traditional spaces into smart, sustainable outdoor spaces. Thus, makes it keeping pace with the rapid technological changes that are taking place in the world and keeping pace with the artificial intelligence that is happening in the constructed buildings.
The paper adopts the analytical approach that examines the design principles of green areas, and clarifies the importance of interaction and integration between the main components of the external and open spaces represented by the technological aspects and the concept and objectives of sustainable design for them, as well as the elements of sustainable design, plant and non-vegetation.
